Trinkets from Land and Water (2022)

this piece is illustrated as part of the UAE’s participation in Floriade Expo 2022, Salt Water Cities.

This illustrated piece is a celebration of the UAE’s landscape in the form of an asymmetrical pattern; a symbol of its ecosystems, both land and water. The illustration is inspired by specimen samples and scientific illustrations; highlighting the uniqueness of each living being through the whimsical shapes, marks, and colors. It is collection of living beings, ones that are visible, such as plants and sea creatures; and those that are invisible, like micro algae. We as humans are care takers of this landscape, caring for it, nurturing it, and living in harmony among it.
